Binhai New Area firmly Remained in the Leading Position of foreign trade in Tianjin

In the first three quarters of this year, Tianjin’s foreign trade was generally stable with progress, and the positive trend was continuously consolidated. The scale of foreign trade increased quarter by quarter. The import and export values in the first, second, and third quarters were 192.85 billion yuan, 207.71 billion yuan, and 209.73 billion yuan respectively. From a monthly perspective, since this year, Tianjin has seen year-on-year growth in import and export values in six single months. Since June, it has maintained year-on-year growth for four consecutive months. Among them, the export resilience is particularly obvious. Since this year, there have been seven single months with year-on-year growth, and the growth rate in four months has reached double digits.

Tianjin’s import and export growth rate to countries and regions participating in the Belt and Road Initiative is higher than the overall growth rate. In the first three quarters, the European Union, the United States, ASEAN, South Korea, and Japan remained Tianjin’s top five trading partners. The combined import and export value accounted for 61.3% of Tianjin’s total import and export value. In the same period, Tianjin’s total import and export value to countries and regions participating in the Belt and Road Initiative reached 254.54 billion yuan, an increase of 6.2%, 4.2 percentage points higher than the overall growth rate, and the proportion increased to 41.7%.

In the first three quarters, Binhai New Area firmly remained in the leading position of the city’s foreign trade. Among the 16 districts in the city, the imports and exports of 12 districts achieved positive growth. Among them, the import and export value of Binhai New Area reached 425.06 billion yuan, accounting for nearly 70% of Tianjin’s total import and export value in the same period, and pulling up Tianjin’s overall import and export growth rate by 0.7 percentage points. In terms of exports, Ninghe District had the highest growth rate in the city, increasing by 74.5%. In terms of imports, Jizhou District had the highest growth rate in the city, increasing by 131.2%.
